Bob Vila Endorses Ceramic Coatings

Wednesday, November 9th, 2016

Many of us know Bob Vila from his PBS six season series “This Old House” which premiered in 1979 and won several Emmys over the years. Since then, Vila has become a staple in the home improvement and restoration industry. He’s written several books and starred in many other television shows. He also has his own self titled home improvement website that gives “tried, true, trustworthy home advice.”

Bob Vila recently endorsed ceramic coatings in his web article “Ceramic Coatings for Increased Insulation,” and we couldn’t be more thrilled. If you weren’t sure of Rhino Shield before, you will be now!

Ceramic coatings have been around for years and have several advantages over regular paints and coatings. They help reduce thermal conductivity by using ceramic micro-spheres that offer lower conductivity than the traditional paint solids. This makes them very effective in preventing unnecessary heat loss or heat gain. As a result, insulation increases and power bills decrease. And who doesn’t like saving money?!

At Rhino Shield, we provide our customers with several different coating options including our different Rhino Shield Roof Coatings. These multi-layer, rubber-like coatings add extra layers of water sealant, helping keep roofs cooler and extending their lives by several years. Ceramic roof coatings often pay for themselves, as they are thousands of dollars cheaper than replacing a roof.

This beautiful tropical green roof is coated with Rhino Shield’s Supershield Roof Coating. Our Supershield Roof Coating is specifically designed for metal roofs in need of a fresh look and some extra protection, and is offered in a sloped roof formula perfect for residential buildings, a flat roof formula for commercial buildings, and a ponding water formula for roofs in the most challenging of situations.

Our Rhino Shield Roof Coatings help increase energy savings, which is why we were awarded the US Department of Energy’s Energy Star Rating for TWO of our fabulous roof coatings! We pride ourselves on our incredible, long lasting products here at Rhino Shield. If you’re roof is in need of something to help spruce it up or protect it from natural outdoor elements, give us a call! And head over to Bob Vila’s website for more information on ceramic coatings and all things home improvement, because both Bob and Rhino Shield love your home just as much as you do!

Coated Brick: The Next Big Thing

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016

With the rise in popularity of shows like HGTV’s Fixer Upper and Flip Or Flop, we’ve seen a spike in the number of clients painting or coating their home’s brick exterior. And Rhino Shield is loving this new trend just as much as our clients are.

This new craze brings a hint of modern flare to any type of home, and we are swooning at the finished product. So are two of our most recent clients who gave Rhino Shield rave reviews saying, “This crew was incredible. They worked so hard every day to transform this home- we are extremely pleased with their work and will readily promote Rhino Shield and the entire process.”

image11 image21

Some of the more popular colors include varying shades of grey, cream, and white (like our most recent client’s chose). The transformation is stunning! Brick coatings turn typical brick houses into  stunningly elegant, and unique homes. The finished products are incredible but it’s no easy feat to transform these brick homes.

Brick is unique and special steps must be taken to ensure homes are fully protected. Brick, much like human skin, contains pores. Some brick is more porous than others. If a home has very porous brick, Rhino Shield must first apply a block filler to help fill in these pours for a smoother texture. After the brick is coated, it must be sprayed and back rolled to ensure any cracks and crevices are completely filled in. This gives homes the opportunity to take full advantage of the Rhino Shield product.

Rhino Shield is classified as a Low E Coating, helping lower the cost of energy bills, as well as protecting your home from outside elements for the next twenty five years. If you’re interested in coating your brick home with our product, give us a call. We are incredibly excited about this new craze, and can’t wait to hear from you soon!

Reward Yourself with a Rhino Shield Referral

Thursday, September 22nd, 2016

October is creeping up fast, and we all know what that means! Cool weather, crisp air, boots, scarves, and pumpkin spice lattes. Before we know it, winter will be here, and our homes will be fighting frigid temperatures and winter storms. Now is the time to hunker down and take care of your home with a new exterior coating from Rhino Shield.

It’s low in maintenance, but high in value. It’s fire resistant, and protects your home from outside elements, especially the extreme temperatures and dry air that tend to come along with the upcoming winter season. Remind your friends and family to take care of their home before it’s too late, or too cold and we’ll send a little gift your way when they come in to see us!

Rhino Shield counts on our happy customers for positive advertising, and they never seem to let us down. So as a thank you, we’ve designed a program that rewards our customers for referring the names and contact information of friends, neighbors, relatives, and even those random strangers they just can’t help but tell about our amazing products.

For each one of your referrals, you will receive a gift certificate to a place of your choice for up to 3% of the sales price on their purchase. Some of our most popular gift certificates come from Home Depot and Lowes, but if you’d rather have a nice evening out with your husband, wife, or children, we can certainly do that too! And if you choose to forgo the gift certificate, Rhino Shield will donate that money instead to a charity of your choice. What better way to give back during the holiday season?

Our customers are having a lot of fun with our referral program, and so are we! Make sure to send everyone our way before the winter months hit, because who couldn’t use a little extra spending money for Christmas presents? Am I right?

Ratings Run Strong

Saturday, April 23rd, 2016

It’s hard to believe, but Rhino Shield has been on the market for almost fifteen years now! Over the years we’ve evolved and expanded. And although a lot has changed, one thing has remained the same, our “A” Rating with the Better Business Bureau, as well as our stellar ratings on Angie’s List.

It would be nearly impossible for any company to maintain such high ratings if the products and services promised did not actually work. Our product though, not only meets our customer’s expectations, but exceeds them, and we could not be more proud!

Because of this, we offer a twenty five year written warranty on any flaking, peeling, or blistering of our product. What regular paint can’t withstand, Rhino Shield can for a minimum of twenty five years! Now that is a powerful promise! And our customers are loving it!

The Most Challenging Exterior Painting Surface of All

Saturday, October 31st, 2015

A-BeforeWe are often asked what is the most challenging surface of home exteriors for painting contractors. Hands down, it’s brick.

Why? Brick is a surface that is normally not expected to be painted. But if the brick is old and worn, a fresh coat of paint makes the house look a lot more sleek and modern.

Painting contractors have take into account the two components of brick as well as mortar. Both are porous. Without a good primer, they could absorb paint like a sponge, causing an uneven, blotchy appearance. As brick ages, it gets a salt buildup on the surface. As mortar ages, its pH may change and make it harder for paint to adhere properly. The home may require an acid wash first to remove these problems. It takes a true professional painting contractor to masterfully cover brick.

Also, the porous quality of brick allows it to absorb a fair amount of moisture. So painting contractors must first make sure the brick is completely dry before painting. Rhino Shield painters also puts down a primer vapor barrier coating before applying the final durable ceramic color coat.  A_after

And that brings us to yet another challenge to consider: once applied, it’s almost impossible to remove paint from brick. Although there are difficult-to-use chemical removers, your color scheme should be chosen with the thought in mind that this is going to be permanent. And indeed, Rhino Shield ceramic paint is durable enough to keep the finish looking like new for 25 years or more. You’ll never have to paint again.

Ceramic Coating For Tennessee Log Cabins And Cedar Homes

Monday, June 22nd, 2015

Among the beautiful mountains of Tennessee are dwellings that present a special challenge for our Tennessee affiliate: log cabins and cedar homes. Ernie Jones of the Knoxville office explains that these porous wood sidings rapidly become weather-worn and faded. They must be re-stained approximately every three years. However, with Rhino Shield ceramic coating, he says, “It’s one and done.”

If you were to use standard acrylic paint on such a surface, he explains, it would peel off because of the oils and chemicals used to pre-treat the wood, plus countless applications of stain treatments. But the Rhino Shield process starts with pressure washing and an extra step to seal in those oils and chemicals.

Your Rhino Shield professionals can also make repairs to the siding before applying our special adhesive primer. This primer is a double-binding adhesive, adhering tightly to the wood as well as binding permanently to the ceramic coating top layer that is applied as a final step.

Regular paint would come right off, Jones says, but Rhino Shield is a permanent solution. It comes with a 25 year warranty, but Jones remarks confidently that the coating could really last as long as 40 years. It’s a permanent solution to the mountain home owner’s ‘every-three-years’ headache.

Our Rhino Shield office in Knoxville serves all of east Tennessee, including Chattanooga. They are also part of the Tennessee Self Storage Association, providing near-permanent ceramic coating solutions for the area’s metal storage units, which are high maintenance buildings. But not to worry – Rhino Shield does the job like a champ.

Make Your Home Siding More Efficient

Tuesday, June 9th, 2015

run Here is a suggestion that may cut down on summer cooling bills. Regardless of whether you have Hardy Plank, brick, stucco, aluminum or a plastic home exterior, it is possible that you can have more energy efficient siding with durable ceramic Rhino Shield coating.

Let Georgia Coatings painting services apply Rhino Shield ceramic coating to your home. It takes only three to five days.

Alpharetta and North Metro Georgia residents are well aware of the high cost of air conditioning during a Southern summer. This is a good time to make your home siding somewhat cooler with Rhino Shield’s thick insulating coverage.

Georgia Coatings painting services technicians are experienced professionals who give you an up-front estimate, prepare or make repairs to the siding,  then use a primer sealer and finally a lustrous top coat that is more resistant to fading than many acrylic paints. Rhino Shield’s ceramic beads ‘bounce’ UV waves from the sun off the finished siding to help keep it cooler.

We use Rhino Shield specifically because it goes on thicker for better weathering protection. Tests by independent lab 3M have demonstrated that Rhino Shield’s ceramic microspheres reflect as much as 90% of UV waves off your home’s exterior siding. This “low E” UV protection acts similar to a sunscreen for your home, bouncing much of the sun’s harshest rays off of the siding, which may help to lower your siding’s surface temperature.

Call Georgia Coatings at 678-205-4500 for more information. Every house is different and some may not see the savings as much as others. This is another way to save: Rhino Shield is warranted against chipping and peeling for 25 years. You may never paint again.
